Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo said he’s not fretting about his contract situation or focusing on whether any negotiating progress will be made toward a new deal before training camp begins late next month, Mark Maske of the Washington Post reports. “I’m not worried about it,†Orakpo said. “I’m concentrating on having a successful season. Everything will take care of itself.†Orakpo is entering the final season of his contract and, without an extension, would be eligible for unrestricted free agency next offseason. The Redskins hope his return as a pass-rushing presence will bolster a defense that ranked 30th in the league against the pass last season. “I don’t think we understood how much we missed ‘Rak until we saw him probably that first day of OTAs and saw him get off the ball,†cornerback DeAngelo Hall said. “We were watching old film and we were like, ‘That’s what we need, ‘Rak, every play.’… ‘Rak is in a similar situation to myself. He’s playing on a one-year deal. He has a lot to prove. He has to go out there and make plays, prove he can be healthy. We have a lot of guys who are playing with something to prove.†Source: The Redzone
If he has a good year, he should expect to get paid. Why can't anybody play out a contract anymore? Revis really started a sh!tty trend
Injuries, lack of pass rush and coverage. He isn't going to get paid unless he can prove that he's legit this year. He's good, but he has a lot more potential than what you see on the field.
