We found out earlier Monday that Atlanta radio hosts on 790 AM were suspended on Monday for mocking former New Orleans Saints player Steve Gleason, who suffers from ALS. The inevitable happened a few hours later: They have been fired.

It was an unavoidable decision after the audio tape of the segment was released Monday afternoon, via New Orleans radio station 106.1. The tape was somehow worse than we even imagined.

In the the segment, "Gleason" calls in to the show on a supposed media tour.

Wow. Takes quite a man to mock someone who has a disease that will eventually cause the loss of all motor function and ultimately take his life.

Big difference between free speech and being tasteless and classless.

My biggest beef was that the jokes weren't funny.

Exactly. Tasteless is fine so long as it's funny.

Morons deserve to be jobless if they couldn't foresee that being horribly offensive

I find no humor in ALS. None....end of story.

I just listened to the recording today. I have a really dark sense of humor, and even I found it offensive. I don't understand how 3 grown men decided that would be a good idea.

As I said this show was sucking and ratings were down. This just gave them an excuse to terminate the contract.

A lot of funny as things are bad ideas.
