Former 49ers running back Glen Coffee apparently is close to completing Airborne School at Fort Benning, and apparently wants to then move on to Fort Bragg to train with and become a member of the U.S. Army Special Forces. The article has some interesting comments from Coffee on this latest career move. It's crazy to think it's been four years since the 49ers drafted Coffee in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. That year's running back class was pretty hit or miss. LeSean McCoy worked out, but other than that, the highlights are guys like Shonn Greene, Beanie Wells, Donald Brown and Knowshon Moreno. Javon Ringer and Rashad Jennings were considered sleeper upside guys, but neither has really busted out. Source: SBNation
You can with no repercussions all the way until you get to your unit. " Failure to adapt" practically like you were never there They will heck with you and drag the administrative separation out as long as they can sometimes more then a year. I think that was a report and pure speculation. I don't remember if it was ever the sole reason or even verified that it was the reason he was retiring...but there was a report out there.
No, that was straight out of his mouth, that he was retiring to become a preacher...I don't know if he gave that as a reason per se, but that was definitely what he said he was planning to pursue post-NFL. Then he got picked up on gun charges and kept showing up on ATL club flyers as the advertised celebrity guest. Now apparently he quit early on preaching as well, in order to pursue a career killing people. He sucked, anyway. Screw 'im.
and if I remember right, the 49ers gave him a decent signing bonus and offered him up a very fair salary, yet he quit and returned the signing bonus.
He didn't return anything he wasn't forced to...I remember him declining to discuss whether or not he gave a portion of the signing bonus back, saying he couldnt talk about it for legal reasons or something, but the Niners were definitely entitled to get most of it back since he signed for however many years an quit after one.
He did all this before he played his first game ever as a pro didn't he? I can't recall if he ever played in an nfl game at all!?
