Kevin Garnett has agreed to waive his no-trade clause, clinching an agreement on a trade that will land Paul Pierce, Garnett and Jason Terry with the Brooklyn Nets, sources close to the process told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard on Thursday night. Garnett waiving the no-trade clause was the last step to sealing the deal, sources said. No trade between the teams can officially be consummated until July 10 -- when a league-wide moratorium on signings and trades is lifted after free agency begins Monday -- but the teams made fast progress on finalizing the trade parameters. Brooklyn has agreed to send three first-round picks (2014, '16 and '18) along with Kris Humphries' expiring contract, Gerald Wallace, Kris Joseph, MarShon Brooks and a sign-and-traded Keith Bogans to the Celtics for Pierce, Garnett and Terry, a source told ESPN's Chris Broussard. It's really hard to believe Paul Pierce is going to play anywhere that isn't Boston. I thought for sure he was going to retire there.
Yeah, I don't think sending 3 firsts for 2 guys who are probably going to retire after the season and after 2 at max is a great idea, even if they are future hall of famers. They're definitely putting a ton of eggs in one basket.
People, It helps clear out some cap space while adding players that will help them win now. That's all they are looking at
Reminds me of when the Lakers picked up 'The Glove' & the Mailman. May come close but'll wear out at the end...
Agreed...It won't feel weird seeing KG in a Nets uniform seeing he's also played with the Timberwolves before the Celtics. 15 years in one uniform is a long time and that is what Paul Pierce wore for 15 years. Gonna feel weird for me too seeing Paul Pierce in a uniform that isn't a Celtics uniform.
It really isn't that surprising though when you really think about it... considering Ainge once said Bird should have been traded while he still had value.
I think the Nets made a dumb move here. Pierce and Garnett have only about 1 or 2 years left in them so maybe it was just to make a push to get over the hump next year. But Boston should be real good in a few years with all the draft picks they got
