Manny Ramirez is set to begin his comeback attempt with the Texas Rangers organization on Sunday night, when he will bat in the cleanup spot as the designated hitter for the Triple-A Round Rock Express.

Ramirez looked relaxed -- albeit a little tired -- and seemed very confident that he can get back to the major leagues. The 41-year-old slugger is expected to play the entire game Sunday night.

"I can do it," Ramirez said during a mid-afternoon news conference at Round Rock's Dell Diamond. "I've been thinking about this day almost for a week. I'm just like a little kid going back and playing the game that I love."

Ramirez has answered a lot of the same questions for four days, so he's ready to play in a game and to start talking about his results. The 12-time All-Star has no timetable for how long it will take to let himself and the Rangers know that he is ready to face big league pitching.

Must be nice, it's like a part-time gig for him now.

He's done. 41 years old with a career boosted by steroids? I can understand why a MLB team might take a chance on him but I really don't think he'll do squat in the majors again. At one time he was considered to be one of the best right handed hitters in MLB history. Now he's just a cheat and an idiot imo.

Not a bad start start for him. Single in first AB

Hypothetically, had Ramirez conducted himself like a Mariano Rivera, he just might be known as one of the true greats in the history of the game. As it is, he'll probably be remembered as a rodhead.

Read an interview with him in the local paper. He says all the right things about being a changed person. Let's see if his actions match his words.
