Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray made the rounds over at ESPN on Wednesday, speaking with optimism about the upcoming third -- and most important -- season of his career.

Murray dealt with a hamstring issue this spring, but said he's "100 percent" and will be "ready to go" for training camp this month. Murray's inability to avoid injuries has led to questions if he can shoulder the loud over a full season.

But this is July, a time of eternal optimism in the NFL. During an appearance on the yellfest "First Take," Murray was asked if he had the ability to run for 2,000 yards in a season.

Ummm has he been in any offensive strategy meetings this offseason? There are these guys named Romo, Witten and Bryant on your team

He isn't that good when healthy. Not even close. Not a knock on him, but IMO a career year, injury free season he gets 1,600 max

injury free season he is certainly capable of 1800 yards, be shaun alexander-esque in doing so. Hes not the most dazzling runner but he can move very well.

He really is made of glass though, im usually not quick to label a player injury prone but it just seems constant with him

Needs to stay healthy and I'll agree that hes capable of 1800. But he needs to stop acting like Austins little brother.

rapoport is reporting that the cowboys are pretty much done with murray and are working on a deal to upgrade the RB position before the trade deadline.

so, who is available for an upgrade?

The most likely would be MJD it seems.
    Maybe Fred Jackson?
How about Arian Foster? I've heard a few rumblings that the texans may want to part with his large contract and just go with Tate as the feature back.

My guess would be Ben Tate.

Have to be someone on the cheap. We are in salary cap hell for next year. Suppose to be 31 mil over the cap. Apparently they aren't sold on Randle either.

If the Texans would part with him, he would make sense

Isn't rushing for 2,000 yards in a season kind of hard when you can't stay healthy for a whole season?

For what this is worth, after the game yesterday, JJ denied Ian's report that the Cowboys are shopping for another RB.

I think the Texans would be more likely to deal Foster than Tate. Tate's younger, got lower mileage, has proven time and time again that he's a very good back in his own right, and probably wouldn't get them the same return in trade that Foster would.

Hey man, beggars can't be choosers. You want to trade for a legit RB midseason, thats 100% a sellers market in a big way.

Doesn't sound like either is in any shape to be traded... Foster with the Hammy, Tate supposedly has 4 broken ribs.
