The Dallas Cowboys' summer-long quest to create more salary-cap room has claimed another victim.

The team announced Friday that they released fullback Lawrence Vickers. That move saves $1.2 million in cap space.

Vickers, 30, played one season with the team. The Cowboys are expected to rely more on two tight end sets this season, which lessens the need for a fullback.

Not a bad move. Save money. You can always find a cheap FB

i figured they could give leach a 3 year deal at a lower rate they could give somebody decent a 1 year deal. how bad are the cowboys cap problems now?

Nfl.com is saying that Leach will probably go to Miami or the Giants.

Looks like the Cowboys will be going to a two TE offense this season. I guess they think they don't need a FB.

Any time they want a "fb" they'll just use Rosario, as they have in Vickers absence in practices. But I do think it's primarily a commitment to single back formations in general.

From what I read they'll also use 3 TEs sets.

I'm sure but hopefully not often. 3 TEs means less Bryant/Miles/Williams on the field, which I think is something we also need to take advantage of.

I won't but I think Dallas needs to start looking for the replacement. Give Danny coals more touches.

    Miles is just always hurt.

This morning, Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan said that there's been problems with Hanna and Escobar in the 2 TE formations. In Hanna's case, he hasn't picked up the plays yet. In Escobar's case, he doesn't have the strength yet.

Hopefully, these problems resolve themselves before the regular season begins.

And, I AM NOT Debbie Downer!!! I am realistic. There's a big difference.
