The New York Yankees on Friday placed captain Derek Jeter back on the disabled list with a strained right quad.

Jeter will be eligible to return from his latest DL stint on July 27. The Yankees will call up Brent Lillibridge to take his roster spot.

Jeter was injured in his return to the lineup on July 11 against the Kansas City Royals after missing the first 91 games of the season because of his twice-fractured left ankle. He went 1-for-4 but suffered a Grade 1 strain of the quad while running out a grounder.

After his latest injury, Jeter underwent an MRI. He sat out three games, then received treatment through the All-Star break before the team decided to make the DL move Friday.

It's the Royals fault. Rivera tears his ACL pregame against the Royals last year, now this. Aging sucks.

Really sucks to see the sports giants I grew up watching getting old and falling off. I'm just getting to that age where it's starting to happen regularly. Kinda depressing.

Time for Jeter to hang it up. 5 world series rings...Over 3,300 hits....See ya in Cooperstown 5 years after you retire.
