Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn’t think Los Angeles will be without an NFL team for much longer.

Speaking before his Cowboys opened training camp in Oxnard, Calif., a coastal city 60 miles northwest of Los Angeles, Jones said he is “aware of some things that make sense†in getting an NFL team back in the city. From ESPN’s report:

“Closer than ever — ever being since they left, which has been a long time much to my surprise and anticipation,†said Jones on Saturday, when asked if the NFL was close to returning to Los Angeles. “There are some viable ways for a team or teams to be in Los Angeles. We’ve got some very talented and very qualified people that want to be a part of it that are not a part of the league right now. We, obviously, have people within the league that want this very much.â€

The Los Angeles Raiders and Los Angeles Rams played their last game on Christmas Eve 1994.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has said the NFL will not be expanding from 32 teams, so if Los Angeles were to get a team, it would have to be through relocation. The Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers are the most likely teams to relocate, reports ESPN.

Roger Goodell says no new team for LA and Jones talks as though he is interested in any event. Do you suppose the owners are sick of Goodell and will use this issue to dump him?

The fans don't show up though. Why would the NFL have 4 teams in California? They would have to move Oakland or San Diego. Probably Oakland since they are b!tching for a new stadium

What are you talking about, the fans dont show up? The Raiders always had huge attendance, if they werent playing in such a monstrosity of a stadium seating-wise, they would have been regular sellouts...and even then they came close a few times if I'm not mistaken. There's probably still a larger existing fanbase for them in LA than in Oakland. LA loves their Raiders.
Pretty sure the Rams were never really terrible either, attendance-wise. Frontiere was just a money grubbing lunatic who never gave a crap about the fans and bailed for StL when Anaheim wouldnt build her a stadium.

The Raiders average attendance in 1982 was 46,000+ (12,000 below NFL average.) In their last season, their attendance was 51,000+ (11,000 below NFL average.)

I Bet the rams go back because they are only committed to one more season in st louis. la would build them a new stadium without much money or little cost to the rams.they might pull a don corlionne and" make them an offer they can't refuse." without the horse head.
