It took three days of Miami Dolphins training camp before the first negative report about Mike Wallace came out. Perhaps the only surprise is that it took so long. From the South Florida Sun Sentinel's Omar Kelly: "We're three days into training camp and the Mike Wallace factor hasn't been felt so far. "Wallace hasn't roasted any cornerbacks deep. ... YET. Without hitting we really can't tell his run-after-catch skills. ... YET. And to be completely honest, Wallace doesn't have great chemistry with quarterback Ryan Tannehill. ... YET. That was evident the entire offseason." It goes on from there, with Kelly comparing Wallace unfavorably to Brandon Marshall's first days in Miami. Dolphins cornerback Brent Grimes regularly has gotten the better of Wallace, per Kelly. Kelly also said Wallace is only the "fourth or fifth" most impressive new Dolphin this offseason. "Speaking of Grimes, the former Falcons' coverage of Wallace since (organized team activities) either proves Grimes is back to his Pro Bowl status, or the Dolphins have paid way too much money for Wallace," Kelly wrote. I'm by no means a big Wallace fan, but this is premature, and the Marshall comparison is straight up weak.
NFL.com took what Kelly out of context. He said that Wallace doesn't seem to run at full speed. Which means he doesn't practice well, and neither does Wake.
It's an article that pretty much saying to all the Dolphins fans that are panicking NOT to panic. Totally taken out of context and the Wallace haters are loving it. There is a comparison to Marshall in that he also started slow with Miami in training camp...he wound up having a nice career with them while he was there. Silly article on a slow news day, but totally taken out of context.
wallace is probably the top 5 fastest recievers in the league is'nt he? makes sense to start out slow unless you want a pulled muscle on the 1st or second play of training camp.if he is running slow week 1,that is when it is time to worry about it.
