Suspended slugger Ryan Braun released a statement Thursday through the Milwaukee Brewers' public relations department stating that he will speak to the media once he's allowed.

It was the first comment made by Braun since being suspended Monday for the remainder of the 2013 season for violations of Major League Baseball's drug policy.

"See Mark [Attanasio's] comments or reference what he said," the statement read. "When I am able to, I will speak.

"I know it was difficult for everybody, but I was not, and still am not, legally allowed to say anything yet."

Braun's statement was in reference to the comments made by the Brewers' principal owner to reporters during Wednesday's game against the San Diego Padres.

"I think [Braun] has to get to the point where he can actually speak about this," Attanasio said. "Major League Baseball is in the midst of an ongoing investigation. He is obviously now cooperating with baseball. He is cooperating in such a way that he is going to let them conclude or get further into the investigation before he talks."

Attanasio is not yet aware of all the details of the case, saying Braun could not provide additional details due to the ongoing investigation.

Greinke on Braun. Braun is a lying piece of scum. I really wish the dude who got fired over this for the delivery thing would sue the heck out of this guy but with our legal system he wouldn't get anything since he "failed to do his job." It makes me mad that if the Brewers were .5 games out and Braun was in the mix for the triple crown he wouldn't have been suspended. Bud Selig has known about this whole mess for years and just didn't care and now these scum bags make a mockery of the sport.

What are the chances Braun paid the guy off to make sure the urine sample didn't get to where it need to be on time?

I would say the chances of that are very low. But obviously there's no way to know.

I went to a Brewers/Cardinals game at Miller Park last year with a few buddies of mine and one of them was a Cardinals fan. Braun hits an RBI triple during the game. After that, the Brewers fans are chanting "MVP" while my Cardinals fan buddy was chanting "check his pee".
