Eagles Fine WR Riley Cooper For Insensitive Remarks

    Riley Cooper is at the center of a self-made storm after video surfaced of the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver making racially insensitive comments at a Kenny Chesney concert.

    The video -- posted by Crossingbroad.com and more widely circulated via Deadspin -- depicted an agitated Cooper, who is white, telling a companion, "I will fight every (expletive) here."

    On Wednesday, Cooper released a statement through the team apologizing for his behavior.

    "I am so ashamed and disgusted with myself. I want to apologize," the statement read. "I have been offensive. I have apologized to my coach, to Jeffrey Lurie, to Howie Roseman and to my teammates. I owe an apology to the fans and to this community. I am so ashamed, but there are no excuses. What I did was wrong and I will accept the consequences."

    Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie released a statement on the matter shortly thereafter.

    "We are shocked and appalled by Riley Cooper's words," Lurie said. "This sort of behavior or attitude from anyone has no role in a civil society. He has accepted responsibility for his words and his actions. He has been fined for this incident."

    This obviously is a bad look for Cooper, who has some unpleasant explaining to do in the Eagles' locker room.

    Can they fine the obnoxious snitch that freaks out when he says it too?

    I imagine that has to make the locker room a pretty awkward place for a while.

    Not knowing what his relationship is with the other players, I imagine the media circus is his biggest hurdle to overcome.

    those security guys were the only black guys there to see Kenny Chesney I would bet! look,i don't know why he said that,but I bet alcohol,bravado,and testosterone along with him being an nfl player had a lot to do with it.he's also a fairly young guyso stupidity had a part in it too.my feeling is if he apologized to the team and to the world which he did both,he deserves to be forgiven.all of us,especially those of us who are male,say stupid things we shouldn't don't we?

    By now, don't NFL players know to be careful about what they say? With cell phones that can take pictures in the blink of an eye and record, and social media sites like Facebook, you'd think players would be more careful.
