The most important attribute for an offensive skills player in New England is the ability to gain tom Brady's trust. Wes Welker, Danny Woodhead, and Aaron Hernandez all had that but Welker and Woodhead left in free agency and Hernandez is not available for a more unfortunate reason. Next up may be jack-of-all-trades Shane Vereen according to Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald. Vereen has taken training camp reps both at slot receiver and outside receiver, in addition to operating as the Patriots' passing-back replacement for Danny Woodhead. While it may be odd to suggest someone with just eight catches last year could play a pivotal role this year, let’s consider the big picture. Source: The Redzone
