Philadelphia Mayor Would Give Eagles WR Riley Cooper A Harsher Punishment

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter has denounced Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper for uttering a racial slur during a Kenny Chesney concert in June.

Nutter, in a statement released Friday (via CSNPhilly.com), called the remark "repugnant, insensitive and ignorant" and a "disgrace." He added that "all of us, regardless of race or nationality, should be offended by these comments."

Nutter stopped short of saying the Eagles should release Cooper, but he said that he would seriously consider terminating any city employee who made a similar comment.

"Mr. Cooper must look deep in his heart to see how, beyond his personal public apology, he can repair the damage that he has caused to the Philadelphia community, and its relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles and the NFL," the mayor said in his statement.

"This incident is a disgrace, and cannot be excused by just paying a fine, as if it were a parking ticket,â€￾ he added.

I don't remember it, but that would be funny since some blacks have said Nutter isn't black enough. I remember Bernard Hopkins saying McNabb wasn't black enough.
