Needing depth at the cornerback position, the Detroit Lions signed Brandon King on Monday. The team also released linebacker Alex Elkins and wide receiver Devin Thomas.

After going undrafted out of Purdue in 2010, King appeared in eight games for the Indianapolis Colts over two seasons. He finished the 2012 campaign on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad, but was released in February.

The Lions are currently down two cornerbacks with second-year players Jonte Green and Chris Greenwood battling hamstring injuries.
