The switch of Mike Adams to left tackle and Marcus Gilbert back to right tackle might not be decreed as permanent yet by coach Mike Tomlin. But it might only be a matter of time before it is. Unless the Steelers see something disturbing from one of the two young offensive tackles in their preseason opener Saturday night against the New York Giants at Heinz Field, they likely will keep the combination intact heading into the regular season. "It's been interesting and it has produced some positive results," Tomlin said of the switch. The reason the Steelers made the switch is surprising. They came to training camp with Gilbert at left tackle because they believed he was better in pass protection than Adams, who is considered a good run-blocker. Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
i like gilbert but his overall game is pretty meh lately...looked more promising than hes turned out. Adams is not a "good" run blocker, hes a spectacular one, he will easily be one of the best. And hes more athletic than gilbert so this makes sense....he got better and better each week last year that he played, but he has great ability to adjust, recover, and mirror defenders, he had a real problem with his intitial punch and sustaining blockers in the pass games, which is why they played him on the right last year, if thats corrected, theres reason to be excited
not a bad comparison at all...i loved flozell, hes probably my favorite one year rental steeler. Guy just hated everything and everyone
Hopefully Mike developes more consistancy the Flo. Flo had HOF ability, and while he didnt have alot of really bad games, he had games where he played like the best OT in football and downright emabrrassed the likes of Bruce Smith, Michael Strahan, Hugh Douglass, Jevon Kerse, Trent Cole and Osi Uminyora he would follow it up with a gamr with miscomunications and blown assigmments. Mike reminds me alot of him skill wise because like Adams he is an excellent brute with very deceptive agility amd quick feet Sent from my HTC Vivid
