Eagles quarterback Michael Vick endured an uneven performance in Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars. Vick started the game with a deep 20-yard pass to Jason Avant, but was sacked on the second play of the night. He found Riley Cooper for a 9-yard touchdown strike in the second quarter and was picked off by Dwayne Gratz on the following drive. He completed 15 of 23 passes for 184 yards with one touchdown and one interception while also rushing for 53 yards on seven attempts. "I wouldn't use the word 'regress,'" coach Chip Kelly said, when asked about Vick's performance. Source: CBS Sports
Just crap or get off the pot, Eagles You know Vick's ceiling. Either call it a day & name him the starter or let Foles learn by trial & error. This really isn't that hard especially knowing Vick's not gonna hear footsteps & ratchet up his game. He already is who he is...
they already named vick the starter he dident have a great game but its not like his stats were that horrible. Still no mark sanchez lol
Yea, I know they named him the starter. I should have worded that better, ball. I'm just still amazed that they even allowed the competition in the 1st place. You either go youth & roll the dice or you shelve Foles knowing he's not getting any better on the sidelines. & yes, lucky for you, he's not Mark Sanchez. lol
Problem is Vick's ceiling was in his miraculous comeback when filling in for McNabb. Maybe Chipper thinks he can get him back to that form, which has to be a pretty enticing thought.
Vick is what he is. Exciting with an excellent arm. Problem is that he has low Football IQ. He refuses to throw the ball away when nothing is there, or slide feet first. These things seem coachable, but with Vick, they aren't. It's beyond frustrating.
The not-so-funny thing is, that he threw a pass worse than that one. It was a pop-fly. Luckily nobody grabbed it.
He was exciting until defensive coordinators game planed for him. He wasn't that great towards the end of that season.
^^This^^ x infinity... Exactly... He's a sandlot player who makes some beautiful plays but lacks the structure to keep it going. Trying to teach him how to be a thinking man's QB appears to be impossible. I feel Eagles fans pain. Just like Cutler makes great plays, he nullifies them in key moments like Vick. We all know their ceilings. Question is do we want to settle on guys that make us need to be rescued by others, whether it's from the defense, offense, or STs.
Lets be fair here ... reids pigheaded ways were more to blame then vick ceiling. Just get through this year with 3 wins and go get bridgewater.
Im not sauing vick couldve been an elite qb but under reid the last couple seasons vick was basically a crash test dummy out there with that oline and yet reid and his meat puppet marty kept calling passing plays. As a HC you should know better then to put vick in that situation and expect a good outcome.
You think they were gonna get first downs on the ground with a line full of second stringers? That same line you just said got destroyed repeatedly on passing plays?
They were better at run blocking than pass protection. Throwing it 70% of the time was definitely a Reid mistake with that line.
