Arguably the most pivotal move in the Ravens' loss to the Broncos last night was one head coach John Harbaugh didn't make. On the third play of the drive, facing a third-and-9, Peyton Manning flipped a pass to a diving Wes Welker for a first down. Upon replay, it is clear the ball slipped through Welker's hands. During the NBC broadcast, Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth noted that Baltimore Ravens cornerback Corey Graham immediately told coach John Harbaugh he should challenge it.

Unfortunately for the Ravens, Harbaugh didn't challenge it and Manning hit Demaryius Thomas for a 34-yard catch on the next play.

What is with these Head Coaches!!
Rex Ryan: "I never saw the pick that Sanchez threw, even though I am evaluating QB position!!"
John Harbaugh: "I never saw the replay, even though my guy was standing there slapping me in the head telling me to challenge!!"

Another example of how a hurry-up offense effects the defense and their coaches. Too many things happening quickly to think them through thoroughly.

Don't blame NBC...blame your coaching staff.

DawkinsINT:while I agree with that Peyton wasn't really running the hurry up.NBC showed 2 replays before the next snap,Baltimore coaches just messed up big time.

You sure it was two replays before the next snap? The next snap occurred 16 seconds after the catch. But yeah, they definitely screwed up.

um, isn't this why they have people up in the booths to call down to the field and let the coach know when to throw a challenge flag?

He is acting like he is supposed to personally run the review equipment and check when he should challenge. That's why you have people who do that, you don't do it. I doubt many coaches ever see a replay during the game that isn't on the jumbotron, and if you expect to see a controversial play in an opposing stadium, well I wouldn't hold my breath.
