This was a pretty hard thing to write Criteria for, so I just decided to go with a few key factors here; 1. How much emotion did they express in their meltdown? 2. What emotion did it bring out from the people watching? 3. Surrounding factors that contributed to the meltdown. After showing the biggest on field meltdowns, I've decided this week to look at some of the off the field meltdowns. This list is going to have an honorable mention of meltdowns, because it is a very opinionated thing. Now laughing at someone who makes millions of dollars more than you is always fun, but I have decided the following are not good enough, or bad enough for this list. Mckay's NFL debut. Bill Callahan's dumbest team in America rant. Jim Haslett's rant on officiating. Jim Mora's diddly poo rant. Ditka's 2-7 bad mood. Rex Ryan can say anything he wants, look I'm facing the left now. Jim Fassel's guarantee With all of that out of the way, lets get to the top 10! #10 Terrell Owens Crying for Romo [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqU_GLC9560"]Terrell Owens Crying - YouTube[/ame] If you guys do that man, it's unfair. We lost as a team. We lost as a team, man. This loss definitely hurts, Owens said as he cried "for Tony Romo" post game. I gave Owens number 10 on this list, because it was unusual for him to show this type of emotion for a Quarterback. After the media spun up feuds with Mcnabb and Garcia, Terrell just wasn't ready for another media frenzy as Romo played like Romo plays in the 4th quarter. Terrell then threw the media for a spin not being angry at him, but being sorry for him. With a Leave Britney alone-esk performance, number 10 was made. This is a classic meltdown, from a man that played with a lot of emotion. #9 You Play to Win the Game [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W42iiCcFbxE]Herm Edwards "You play to win the game!" - YouTube[/ame] Herm Edwards makes the list again this week with a classic. This was not only an excellent inspirational speech to his own team, but also a great life lesson for any human. Some people would claim this should be much higher up on the list. Some claim it isn't a meltdown at all. It landed at #9 for me because the fact he was coach of the Jets. Herm is a robot, so to see this side of him where is he angry(?) is a lot of emotion for him. This one was most confusing for me. #8 Keyshawn Johnson Is Angry [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8N3-x8XjftQ"]Top 10 NFL Post Game Tirades - YouTube[/ame] (00:00-00:16) Couldn't find a better video of it, sorry. This "Post Game Tirade" was very funny to me. I've watched it close to 50 times, and laughed every time. The anger, the frustration, the passion for the game all came out in this one. Keyshawn was a great player and was right to be angry. His expectations were high, and they were crushed. With a small temper tantrum, some swearing, and a hammerfist, Keyshawn made #8. #7 Mike Singletary Calls Out Vernon Davis [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfYhYft8dwI]Mike Singletary Post Game after Seahawks - YouTube[/ame] How do you have a coach that thinks he will get penalized for having only 10 players? Then again, he is from the old school. Singletary was a great player, but not a great coach. This kick in the butt might have helped Vernon out a lot. Vernon has a lot of upside, but does go out there sometimes and not give it his all. Singletary made some good points in this one, but look who is still on the team between the two. The old man discipline showed in this one is not just a meltdown, but also a lesson. #6 Derek Anderson Gets called out For Laughing [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2vTzHf2tus"]Derek Anderson Meltdown after Monday Night Football November 29th - YouTube[/ame] I feel bad for Derek Anderson in this one. He had literally 1 second of a joke with another player, and has to take crap for it. He was down 18 points sure, but maybe he said something to cheer him up. Life as an Arizona quarterback needs it's times where you are going to need that little bit of cheering up. This meltdown is a prime example of taking someone a person says about you, and trying to turn it around on them. It's childish methods of not being mad at yourself for messing up. #5 Jerry Burns Defends His Offensive Coordinator (uncensored) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNcBFZ26lcI]Jerry Burns Uncensored - Minnesota Vikings - YouTube[/ame] 23 bucks if you can get more excitement than that, hell you are in the wrong operation? Jerry Burns starts off sounding like he is insane in this one. It took him about 35 seconds to become sane, then made some great points. I chose the uncensored version for this to show the meltdown to it's full extent. This is a great rant, I Highly suggest listening to this one a few times. #4 Mike Ditka is not the man he used to be [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yivCgxE31gY]Mike Ditka After Loss to Atlanta - YouTube[/ame] Now being a Saints fan, I know the Saints were bad. Mike Ditka was so sad with this one, that he lost the entire desire to be a coach. I mean he traded their entire draft and 1st round pick for 1 player. Then wants to be sad about the fact they have no receiving talent. Maybe you should have kept your picks and took Peerless Price, or Marty Booker, but instead Ricky Williams was taken. This Meltdown signifies Mike Ditka's Saints. #3 Playoffs? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oSFYxDGKy8]Jim Mora, PLAYOFFS!? The FULL and COMPLETE SPEECH - YouTube[/ame] The look Jim Mora gives when asked about the playoffs is the greatest look I have seen from a coach post game. This infamous rant is the product of 5 Colts turnovers. Peyton has has a couple bad games, but for Jim Mora to go to this level of emotion shows this loss hurt a lot. This is probably the most popular of all of the coaching meltdowns , earning much later revenue for use. Mora probably still has someone say this to him everyday. #2 Dennis Greens Knows Exactly Who The Bears Are [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWmQbk5h86w]Dennis Green "They are what we thought they were, and we let them off the hook!" - YouTube[/ame] Dennis had a hard job in Arizona. He had to deal with quarterback problems, offensive line problems, running back problems, and constant losses. He was bound to meltdown, and this was the big time. After being pushed just a little too far, we got to meet the angry side of Dennis Green as he lost it. They had a big chance for a win as they blew a 23-3 lead to the Bears in the forth. They gave up 3 touchdowns and let them off the hook 24-23. The Bears are who we thought they were! #1 Ryan Leaf Snaps [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UMe0Rz1frdE]Ryan Leaf - YouTube[/ame] Ryan Leaf returns to the #1 spot again this week, with a meltdown that sums up his whole career. I honestly think this guy wasn't saying anything insulting to him at the time, but Leaf reacted like a 6 year old kid when he doesn't get dinner. The weird part of this though, is this was after Leaf's first loss. Following this, Leaf went on to be the biggest bust ever. This isn't a long meltdown, but its the most melted down I have ever seen a player. Wrapping it up Thanks for keeping up with the Top 10 this week. I'm not so sure Herm's rant is actually a rant. Now that he's on TV all the time and we've had a chance to hear and see him in action, it seems like this rant is just Herm being Herm.
