Buccaneers safety Dashon Goldson was fined $30,000 for his helmet-to-helmet hit on New York Jets tight end Jeff Cumberland, according to multiple reports.

Goldson was flagged on the play for a personal foul after leading with his helmet to disrupt a pass intended for Cumberland. The Jets tight end had to leave the game to receive stitches in his chin. Cumberland was considered a “defenselessâ€￾ receiver on the play which led to the personal foul call.

After the game, Goldson told reporters that he can’t “play timidâ€￾ and has to “play footballâ€￾ while the referees have a “tough jobâ€￾ of officiating hard hits.

Goldson has some deep pockets now anyway so $30K seems well worth it to him.

Give me a choice and I'll take the Reid option.

At least the NFL is dishing out fines on plays that are actually flagged.
