Rookie safety J.J. Wilcox will get his first NFL start Sunday against St. Louis in place of veteran Will Allen, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Friday evening on KRLD-FM 105.3. Wilcox has received a lot of the first-team repetitions the last two days in practice in place of Allen, who started the first two games. Wilcox, the third-round pick out of Georgia Southern, only played safety his last season in college. Wilcox showed promise in training camp, though he missed about two weeks after his mother died in Georgia. Source:Dallas News
We've been looking for a starting safety since Darren Woodson retired. And since then, our secondary has sucked...Let's see how the kid does...
The Cowboys coaching staff thinks that Wilcox is faster and has more of an upside than Will Allen. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
i'm pretty sure there was a member of this site who said he'd be starting by the end of the season. and i'm pretty sure it was me. just sayin'.
I hope he gets toasted early and often, then quickly sent to the bench. Only to be forced back into action when Allen gets hurt. Then he continually makes mistake after mistake. And you pound your chest all throughout it.
Wilcox is gonna be a stud. He's gonna take some lumps though. I see him being a feast or famine type guy this year Sent from my HTC Vivid
