The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have decided to bench quarterback Josh Freeman for rookie Mike Glennon, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Coach Greg Schiano had said Monday that Freeman was still his starting quarterback. Freeman has completed fewer than 50 percent of his passes this season, but Schiano said Monday that the fifth-year quarterback hasn't played terribly. "He's done some good things and he's done some things that we'd like to change and he'd like to change," Schiano said. "But it's the whole offensive unit. We need to be more precise. We need to be coached more precisely." Source:ESPN
well, that's about it for freeman in tampa. rumor is that they are shopping him. not sure how much they can get for him but somebody will give them something probably.
i think in the right system, freeman can be a competent nfl starter, maybe along the lines of andy dalton. i don't think he's ever going to be phenomenal, but he could find a home with the right coach/system.
If he could get even close to what he did his second year in the league I think a team is going to get a steal. Not sure what a team is going to give up for freeman since he's a free agent after this year and there seems to be some decent college QB coming out this year.
