The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released quarterback Josh Freeman on Thursday, league sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

By releasing Freeman, the Buccaneers are obligated to pay the quarterback all $6.2 million he was owed in remaining salary this season.

Sweets's Take: Well, IMO someone is going to get a serviceable QB if they groom him, he needs a QB kinda coach NOT Schiano who IMO isn't going to be in the NFL as a head coach for long.

I agree, Schiano's methods aren't going to allow him to be in the NFL long. Freeman will certainly end up somewhere soon

It won't take long to get signed. He's better off out of Schiano's life.

Was calling Jacksonville but looks like it might be Oakland.

well, oakland does like to stockpile qb's so that makes sense.

So where's that put Matt Flynn? Will he stay in Oakland or would they cut ties?

You don't fall so far & hard from grace & have them still want you.

They're probably trying to work a deal with his Mom to take him back...

That's what I mean...where's he wind up if Freeman lands in Oakland?

I wouldn't put it past the Packers to bring him back at a much friendlier contract of course. If he gets cut. All they have is Seneca Wallace. And I'm not sure they want to rely on him if Rodgers goes down. Plus Flynn already knows the system and had success in it.
