NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday night that Clay Matthews was diagnosed with a broken thumb following the Green Bay Packers' victory over the Detroit Lions.

A league source now tells ESPN's Adam Schefter that the injury is expected to sideline Matthews for at least one month.

Sportsguy's Take: I really like Matthews but im sure they will be fine at the end of the day they do have Aaron Rodgers as there QB

Why do I have a gut feeling that Clay Matthews will try and be back for the Monday night game against the Bears on November 4th?

the thumb must require surgery, because if he could play i bet he would just throw a club cast on it and go out there. he might have to wear a club when he gets back even, if he misses the rest of the year pack is toast

Trust me, I remember what Jay Cutler went through two years ago with the exact same injury. The reason I have this gut feeling though is that this is the "Chicago Luck". I hope i'm wrong though.
