Robert Griffin III revealed Wednesday that he sometimes slows up on runs near the sideline in an attempt to draw flags for late hits.

His comments come just three days after Dallas Cowboys safety Barry Church was flagged twice for personal fouls on the QB, though RGIII said he didn't employ the tactic on either play.

"With Barry, it was more I was out of bounds," Griffin said, per ESPN.com's John Keim. "I didn't slow down at all. ... He hit me and it does suck, but some guys are going to take those penalties. It's hard to walk that line, and you've always got to try to protect yourself. ... The sideline is your friend and you can get out of bounds, but a lot of defensive players, they just really don't care. Sometimes they're going to still get that hit on you."

DaBears22's Take: Getting penalties against a defense is a boon for offenses but is this really a smart thing for RG3 to do, or any QB for that matter? Being an enticing target for defensive player itching for a big hit can pay off dividends and also opens up the QB for injuries. In RG3's case he doesn't need any more.

It's also dangerous he's going to end up taking a hit ala Drew Bledsoe or Troy Aikman. Both of those were sideline hits. That essentially pretty much stopped their Careers

yep, he's asking for another injury but the job is to move the ball so i guess i can't really blame him.

If you ask Troy Aikman about the NFC Championship Game that he played in in 1993, and SB 28, he'll tell you that he doesn't remember anything about those games because he suffered a concussion in the NFCCG when his head collided with Dana Stubblefield's knee.

    RG3 better be very careful.
