The Baltimore Ravens signed veteran safety Michael Huff in March to fill the void left by Ed Reed; a task easier said than done. The team, on Wednesday, announced that Huff has been waived along with defensive end Marcus Spears. Source: NFL.com ICECOLD's Take: Tough sledding here for Huff. I remember when he was pointed to as one of the potential replacements for Goldson on the 49ers.
If I was JJ I'd be signing these dudes ASAP Dallas d needs help st both positions Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk 2
Huff is doo doo though. Wheres that Ravens guy who was all over him when they got him, calling him an upgrade from Reeds play in previous years?
I might be in the minority, but I don't really want Huff unless he's 100% relegated to a bench role once Wilcox and Church are both healthy again. I want them both starting/playing and developing chemistry and experience. Spears can bring his fat butt back though, I'm game for that after initially not being fully on board with it either. I'm just not sure how he fits the scheme, honestly.
This morning, Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan addressed this. It's not going to happen. In Huff's case, the Cowboys feel that once they get healed up at the S position, they'll be OK. In Spears's case, the Cowboys scouting department feels that he just doesn't have too much left in his tank.
Huff was cut when couldnt beat out a UDFA for a job, so yeah, that's probably the best course of action.
He plays strong too, if he was worth a crap they would have moved him over to the undrafted FA Ihedigbo's SS spot and upgraded both positions. But he wasn't even good enough to do that.
