Owner Jerry Jones admitted he's had second thoughts about the Dallas Cowboys' decision to change defensive coordinators this offseason, Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas reports. The Saints defense, run by fired Cowboys coordinator Rob Ryan, was dominant, holding the Cowboys to 193 total yards as the Cowboys defense, coordinated by Monte Kiffin, allowed more than 600 yards for the second time in three weeks. "We thought it was best for us to go in the direction that we are, and it doesn't look good right now," Jones said. "Hopefully we can make it look good, but I have all the feelings that you have when you want to look back at a decision, and I realize when some of them work you have to have a few things go along with it. "Candidly, we're having some of the same things that Rob had last year. Frankly, to be fair to Rob, he lost a lot of guys on defense. We lost more this year. That's the game, though. That's what we play. That's the NFL." Source: The Redzone markaz's Take: No disrespect to Dallas fans, but this is absolutely comical. But the good news is that as long as Jerry has his nose stuck in the team's decision -making process, the rest of us will be entertained for some time to come. Sorry Big D fans.
Gee, ya think Jerry? Until Jerry hires actual football people to make personal decisions, he's going to keep making one boneheaded decision after another.
You'd think JJ would get a clue that he's a good businessman, but that he has absolutely no idea when it comes to football matters.
The firing of Ryan wasn't the right move with the injuries he had to deal with in the secondary last year. I was worried about the Kiffin hiring because of his age and if the game has passed him by. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Yeah, giving up over 600 yards to your opponent in 2 of your last 3 games isn't a good sign of a defense heading in the right direction.
Ryan was a scapegoat Is live for JJ to fire himself along with the soulless ginger Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
it's becoming pretty obvious that the cowboys have significant personnel issues on the defensive side. they need a strong safety, a better 2nd cb, a better 3rd cb, and better run stoppers on their d-line and at weak and strong LB. they are soft against the run and consistently look out-matched against the pbutt.
our cbs are fine when they're playing what they're good at. and scandrick has been our best cb consistently this year imo, so i'm not sure what you're talking about there. bruce carter is also fine, can't put the blame on him like he's terrible or something. we're dealing with injuries at safety (heath is garbage but shouldn't be playing anyway), and of course our d-line is bad. we've had 23984732987 dlineman rotate in and out this season, and that's nearly an accurate number. that said, i'm just happy jerry is admitting a mistake. but what's in the past is in the past, and i'd really just like to see kiffin go at this point and marinelli assume his duties.
Apparently I'm not as much of a scandrick and Carter fan as you. I think they can be upgraded pretty easily.
I just hope JJ doesn't compound the mistake of firing Ryan last year by keeping Kiffin in 2014. I think Kiffin only has a one year contract. I hope that's the case.
if jj would have swallowed his pride and kept the original cowboys coaching staff under jimmy johnson together, the cowboys would had 8 or 10 sbs by now. I hate them with a passion, but they were tough to beat back then, and that staff with johnson, turner, and butch davis, could beat you in any phase of the game, and did !
