The dynamic defensive back indeed suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during the Arizona Cardinals' 30-10 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday, a source informed of the injury told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Tests also confirmed that he tore his LCL, making the injury more significant because Mathieu has to wait for the injury to heal a bit before he can undergo surgery, Rapoport reported Monday.

Damn, this is bad news. Mathieu was one of those impact rookies you didn't hear much about, putting himself in DROY conversation. Too bad this happened.

Man this bums me out. I love this kid. I hope his recovery doesn't lead him back to old ways. Stay clean and get healthy quick.

Having a solid season! Probably a leading candidate for Defensive Rookie if the Year.

I think he will win it, despite being out for the last 3 games. His main competition in my opinion is kiko and Sheldon Richardson.

who do you think his competition is with?

Honestly my biggest concern with this injury is that he goes back to drugs during rehab!
