Standing between a mountain of snow and MetLife Stadium on Wednesday, NFL senior vice president of events Frank Supovitz was confident that Super Bowl XLVIII would go on as planned.

The league has contingency plans that could move the game up to Saturday or delay it until Monday night, but Supovitz said those plans exist for every Super Bowl. And with the first outdoor Super Bowl planned for a cold-weather venue slated to kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 2, Supovitz almost sounded like he was rooting for the white stuff.

"I think watching NFL football in the snow is really romantic," Supovitz said. "It's great, it's exciting, and if you've ever done it, you know that. It's also a rite of passage for you as a fan to have done it at least once. And this is a Super Bowl, right? So I think it's going to be amazing. I think it would be better if it snowed a little bit during the game. I think it'll just make it more memorable."

Certainly would be memorable. After so many nice weather Bowls elsewhere, this should give the more northern team the advantage.

Won't know who is truly the better team. I don't like the idea. Yes, snowy games are fun to watch but so much of the game comes down to luck and who hecks up less as opposed to who is actually the best team.

love to see how they are gonna pull a halftime show in a blizzard, cold rain or ice storm.

I've always thought that instead of a halftime show, why not pull some fans from the game and have them play a game of touch football. Certainly be more entertaining than a group like the Black Eyed Peas imo. lol

Problem with that is that it would probably be more physical than the actual game.

Or have the finales of the punt, pass and kick finals! the league sells the halftime as the greatest thing ever, but 9 times out of 10 the performers crap the bed in front of the two billion people watching the game!

If Supovitz thinks is so much fun, then he should stand in the blizzard with the fans and not in his cozy heated corporate box!
At halftime they could have a snow plough demolition derby :D
