Into seemingly every Gang Green gathering, a little controversy must fall. Rex Ryan reiterated Wednesday that the Jets have a quarterback competition, but Michael Vick is doubling down that there isn't one. Clearly, not everyone is on the same page at One Jets Drive. "There is competition, there's no doubt," Ryan said. Vick, speaking a few minutes later, parried questions about a competition a week after saying there wasn't one and that Geno Smith would start the season. Eventually, however, Vick acquiesced when he was asked directly if there was an open competition. "Nah, it's not an open competition," Vick said. When Ryan was asked what the disconnect was between him and his quarterback, he said, "I don't know." The Jets have said that there would be a quarterback competition since the team signed Vick.
