Steve Crump at WBTV in Charlotte said that a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department source told him that Newton suffered no major injuries. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Doug Miller of the Observer said. Newton's car overturned and he was taken from the scene in an ambulance, after being placed on a stretcher, Jonathan Jones of the Observer said.
