Seems harsh in a way as it's clearly a non-profit making (albeit very well run) fan forum. Trademarks are trademarks I guess, but where does it stop? Posting photos for instance? There are all sorts of pitfalls if the NFL wanted to get really nasty, when really they should be glad of the interest of sites like these. I can understand they have a brand to protect, I just hope they see the nature of a place such as this.
They tend to hate any fan sites, they generally see them as a form of competition, non-profit or not.
Those damned spiders.....Yep, unfortunately that the reality of becoming more visible but regardless, we had to do what they wanted. Monie, using their trademarks was never discussed, I don't think we have enough money to bribe our way around the NFL and if a deal could be worked out I'm sure they would totally change our idea of what GIF is an uncensored "FUN" site so the trade off IMO wouldn't be worth the $$$ Yisman, did you call the NFL and complain about losing your cash when we transferred the site to vBulletin, I know how pissed off you were about it:shock:
yeah, I spoke to Goodell about it. He said he couldn't help me now, but not to worry, "in a few weeks NONE OF THOSE BASTARDS will have any vcash!"
Your vCash can be taken away right now, why wait?? DC, as of right now we can keep them but who knows what the NFL will do in the future.
what happens if you change the name to nfluncensored? could they go after us because of using the name with nfl in it?
How did you know about the name change?? I don't think they would have a need to come after us because we won't be using any trademarks logos such as the insignia etc. but I'm not sure.
I think they would trip off that as well. Im pretty sure they have it trademarked.... They just pick and choose when to lay down the hammer on folks. Just like Pat Riley, when he trademarked "Three Peat" Need to give him some cash if you want to use that phrase.
Yep, make sure you all vote for us on the bottom of the page we're in a tight race with sports radicals in the top 100 football sites page, so get there and vote for us.
There is no way I could afford the licensing fee to use the team logos....we are talking in the tens of thousands per year. As for the site's name switch...that now is up in the air...I still have to talk to them about what is and isn't kosher....
Yup its a lot of cash. Kind of like when we tried to use the 49er logo on my tailgating crew logo. The 49ers Legal Dept. gave us a hint that our logo would be better without the 49er logo in it. [smilie=DIRTY14.gif]
I'm pretty sure, even paying that money, the NFL want to have some influence to the board too. What upset me most, is that ppl like us spend tons of $$ for tickets and merchandise stuff. And if you run a board, that is non-commercial, they wanna charge you for using the logos. [smilie=ohboy.gif]
