Who is the best "Big Three" in football?

Most of us probably remember the glory days of Troy, Emmitt, and Michael. Which team do you think has the best "Big Three" in today's game?

To me, there are only two teams that had a legitimate Big Three last year. I think you could even make a case to call each of these teams a Big Four.

    Cincinnati Bengals:
    1. Carson Palmer: threw for over 4,000 yards, had 28 touchdowns and ranked sixth in the NFL in quarterback rating
    2. Rudi Johnson: ran for 1,300 yards and scored 12 touchdowns
    3. Chad Johnson: 87 catches, 1369 yards, 7 TDs
    4*. T.J. Houshmandzadeh: 90 catches, 1081 yards, and 9 TDs

    St. Louis Rams:
    1. Marc Bulger: threw for 4,300 yards, 24 touchdowns, ranked seventh in the NFL in quarterback rating
    2. Steven Jackson: over 1,500 yards rushing, 13 TDs on the ground
    3. Torry Holt: 93 catches, 1188 yards, 10 TDs
    4*. Isaac Bruce: 74 catches, 1098 yards, 3 TDs

For me, it's a coin flip between those two teams for the best Big Three in football. There are a lot of other good Big Three trios as well (Colts, Seahawks, Broncos, Cardinals, and others).

Who do you all think is the best one?

There are quite a few teams in the NFL that you can make arguements for that have already been mentioned like the Bengals tandom of Carson Palmer, Chad Johnson, Rudi Johnson, and T.J. Houshmandzadeh or the Rams four some of Marc Bulger, Steven Jackson, Tory Holt, and Issac Bruce, or the Colts trio of Manning, Harrison, and Addai. The Cardinals four some of Leinart, Edge, Fitzgerald, and Bolden could be one to look out for, for years to come. Also, don't forget all those weapons Tom Brady now has in New England.

It's a toss up between the Bengals and Rams, me thinks.. That is, if you're talking about QB-RB-WR..

Jackson is better than R. Johnson, and Holt is better than C. Johnson.. But Palmer is much better than Bulger.. So.. It's kinda your call

I'll take the Rams trio of Bulger, Jackson and Holt over the Bengals trio, especially since the Bengals have not been to happy with Rudi Johnson of late. You have to wonder when a tank like that hits the wall.

I think the Colt's are searching for more than a big three (Triplets used to be the term used). I think they are searching for sextuplets!

When the Colts line up on offense with two Wide outs (Harrison and Wayne), a tight end (Clark) running back (Addai) QB (You know who) and a slot receiver (The Rookie--Gonzo), The opposing defense is facing six first round draft picks ready to do them harm.

I have to go with the Rams also but the field is very close throughout the league......and if Killswitch is going to toss the cards and broncos in there....I'll be a homer and mention the Steelers with Roethlisberger, Parker and Ward.

For QB, RB, & WR then it's probably a toss up between the Colts, Bengals, Rams, & Patriots (Maroney and Moss make a very forimidable trio).

I'd give a slight nod to the Rams over the Colts simply b/c Stephen Jackson is a clear step up from Addai.

it hurts me to say this but the rams in my mind would win this category right now.. now if addai proves himself this year then the award will go to the colts

A possible dark horse Big 3 in the making can be New Orleans. Brees had a better year last year than Bulger in many eyes and both RB's are real commodities. If Colston continues to develop, then that group could be very good.

:agreed: but it does all depend on Colston continuing to develop

I would put Holt over Harrison currently. Everyone of the Rams big 3 has proven themselves as All Pro's. Addai hasn't had the chance yet to prove himself. His rankings this year are based on potential. Let's see how he does as the #1 back.

You would put Holt over Harrison currently? What would make you do that? Would it be the inferior totals in receptions, yardage and TDs last year? Maybe it's the 3 double digit TD seasons for Holt vs. the 8 consecutive double digit TD seasons for Harrison? Or maybe the 5 Pro Bowls for Holt vs. the 8 consecutive Pro Bowls for Harrison? Or maybe it's the one season in Holt's career where he had a better TD total than Harrison?

I think the difference between Manning and Bulger outweighs the difference between Addai (who was the Colts' #1 back last year in everything but title, and even earned that come playoff time) and Jackson, and the receivers are about equal (though Marvin is the better of the two).

WR's are about equal. Manning is better than Bulger. I think Jackson is a more proven commodity because he carried the load running and with catches out of the backfield. Dominic Rhodes and Addai split time almost equally last year. If Addai proves himself as a consistent starter this year, then he'll close the gap on Jackson and I'll view the Colts big 3 as being better. If you read my original post, I said it's a toss up with the slight edge going to the Rams. If Manning has a 49 TD season again, then there's clearly no comparison.

How about Rivers, LDT and Gates? Doesn't have to be a Wide Receiver making up the big 3 does it?

Nice idea but I wouldn't put those three in same group as rams or colts....Rivers had a very good year last year but will he match that this year?
