i live in Florida and haven't been to Heinz Field yet. some of my family still live there and said it's not as loud and wild as Three Rivers used to be. what's your take on it?

btw...congrats on the tickets. i wish i was in your shoes.

Well, I am only 23, so i don't buy the tickets. My dad has had them since three rivers opened, so by default, they will be mine. My seat is in my name and my name is on the plaque at the south end of the field (open end).

I do have to say that it is not as loud as 3 rivers, partly because of the open end of the field, but it can get loud in there.

Here is hoping you all have 1 chance to get to a game. It is a great experience.

    Go Stillers!

Thanks for telling us that Nix. I wouldn't have even looked down there.

So what is everyone's take on how the first string offense has struggled? They are worrying me.

Nawww...not worried yet. How many first teams have looked great? I will worry if we don't score 28 against the Brownies in opener.....even then I won't worry too much.:icon_wink:

the line has me a little concerned on offense.

TE's seemed to be a strong point before camp. now i'm not so sure. Speath (sp?) seems like a dud. i've never liked 'two women'. if they're going to run 2 and 3 TE's, i think we're in trouble cause all we seem to have is Miller.

Townsend at corner bothers me and i think we're thin at the inside linebackers.

The O-line concerns me , They didnt seem to hold up there blocks to well when the defense came after them .Mahan just how good is he :beg: will find out how good he really is soon enough.

I am worried about the line as well, but it probably will not be as bad as it has looked in these pre-season games. I even noticed Faneca putting forth a pedestrian effort at times in the Philly game and you know he is going to play better than that if he expects that big pay day next year.

The players know it is pre-season too and none of them are playing 100% unless their job is on the line. I will withhold any judgements till the season starts.

EmailPrintOkobi, Haynes among those cut by Steelers
    Saturday, September 01, 2007
    By Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Chukky Okobi, who came to training camp as the starting center, and running back Verron Haynes were among the players cut today by Coach Mike Tomlin as the Steelers reduced their roster to the final 53-player limit, the Post-Gazette has learned.

Also included in the cut were three rookie draft choices - defensive end Ryan McBean, a fourth-round pick; guard Cameron Stephenson (fifth) and wide receiver Dallas Baker (seventh).

Defensive end Shaun Nua, a seventh-round choice in 2005, and former special teams co-captain Chidi Iwuoma were also cut.

Haynes, a fifth-round draft choice in 2002, has been the team's third-down back for most of his career. But three of his previous five seasons have ended early because of knee injuries, including last season when he missed the final nine games.

Also cut were fullback John Kuhn, quarterback Bryan Randall, receivers Walter Young and Gerran Walker; tight ends Cody Boyd and Jon Dekker, tackles Jason Capizzi and Brandon Torrey; nose tackle Scott Paxson, linebackers Ron Stanley and Marquis Cooper; cornerbacks Anthony Madison and Jovon Johnson; and safeties Grant Mason and Mike Lorello.

that's some great Day 2 drafting Colbert. No wonder we're always reaching/trading up for needs on day 1. We can never replenish/find depth in day 2.

we also traded for Allen Rossum (a guy Atlanta probably would have cut)...

    no real surprises there.

no wait....what about Monietooth's "look for the 3-4 specialists to be cut":icon_rolleyes:

I'm shocked we're talking to Haggans about an extension. That cap money could be put to something much more useful. Like a back up punter.

I really don't think Spaeth deserved to make this team. If he hadn't been a day 1 pick he would have been cut outright.

sidenote: Brandon Siler, LB, Florida made the San Diego Chargers roster. A 7th round pick.

I always though Siler was a second round talent though. I could never get my arms around why he fell so far. Lots of people had him as a first rounder. The Steelers really could have done themselves a favor and taken him AT ANY POINT IN THE FREAKING DRAFT!

Haggans is somewhat serviceable and with Timmy a huge question at this point, we exactly need him.

Haggans is serviceable when he isn't on the sidelines, which unfortunately, isn't often. Wood will replace him by season's end.

IMHO I would rather have Wood in there right now. Trial by fire. Even as he learns I don't think there would be much of a drop off at all. And that way by seasons end, if we make the post season, we might have above average production from that spot when it counts. Haggans will give us average production if healthy. Wood can give us so much more.

i agree with that but it's not like we have James Harrison as back up any more....if something happened at that position, who do we turn to? Timmy? with all that was spent in the draft there, i think we're still thin.
now if Timmy does pan out, that will change
