Great to see the Jets honor him, but they should I think they should retire his jersey, too. He was a short guy and he wasn't the most talented, but he was tough a nails. I admire the way came into the league, not being drafted and working or butt off just to make it to the roster.

I wonder if Meshawn has congratulated him?

far from a guy you'd retire a number for..but he was a great role player....did his job and never heard him snitch about anything....The Jets are definitely doing the right thing in honoring him...

I have to disagree, man... Was he one of the elite receivers in the NFL? No. But he delivered in every game. He was a fan favorite with Jet fans. In my opinion, retiring a number for a team is not about stats, it's about what he meant for that team.

Yeah..and its not something that should be just given out to any random ol joe even if the guy played his heart out......the Niners would have no numbers left to give if they retired numbers of people like Chrebet...

Yeah, honor the guy but don't retire his number, he didn't do that much to have his jersey retired. You retire numbers of players that are the elite, not good ole boys whom the fans liked.

Exactly. To be more exact, players who had an effect on the league as a whole. Chrebet was good, I liked him, he had heart for days, but he was never an elite player and he never had an effect on the entire league. Not like, say, ROGER CRAIG. (hint, hint)
