The is no reason why a professional football team should refrain from running up the score. Here's a few reasons why... - Send a message for the next time we meet: - Fine tune my offensive machine: - Give the fans a show: Especially at home! - Send fear thought the league: - Pad our stats: In no other sport are players asked to let up. Why in football? The meanest roughest macho sport of them all. If you can't compete - get off the field. Can anyone think of any more reasons to run up the score? The American Football Psycho:
In no other sport are players asked to let up??....Yes they are. In baseball you don't steal a base with a big lead or bunt a runner over with a big lead It comes down to a simple lack of good sportsmanship. You don't throw the ball deep on 4th down when your up by 38 late in the 4th QTR. In MMA you don't kick or knee your opponent in the head when he is down, and in baseball you don't steal the base when you're up 14-2 in the 8th inning! Why is that so hecken hard to comprehend for some people. There are no laws or rules requiring you to do it, its just common decency!
Common Decency? Trust me. If I ever get you or anyone else in a competitive situation - especially if there is money involved, I'm going to do my best to beat the living daylights out of you.
Thats fine and expected.....but take this scenario for instance......If me and you got into a bar room brawl, I proceeded to break both of your arms and one leg while I just have a little scratch on one cheek....should I then run up the score and break your other leg and give you a colostomy with a fifth of tequilla?:dontknow:
It's not about winning, but how you play the game.:laughy32: Right! All this candyass cryen crap, because they can't field a team that can compete. Miami is a prime example. Get rid of what talent you have, get your butt kicked, and cry about the embarrassment. Who's fault is that? Sure not the team that is treating your team like a scrimmage game with the local high school.:cryin10: Waaaa, they're running up the score. Buy a couple of cases of tissues, and cry me a river, why don't ya.:icon_rolleyes:
Miami is a prime example of what??? I haven't heard any of there players crying about anything......I'm not even sure you posted in the right thread. I really didn't get any of your post as it had nothing to do with what was said...either you need "Hooked on Phonics" or I need Brooklyn's decoder ring.
Well the thread is about running up scores, and I used Miami as an example of why some fans whine about "Sportmanship",because they can't compete. I don't hear any Pats fans complaining about scores being run up. Comprende?
Look, I'm not saying that if your up 35 points in the 3rd qtr you don't keep throwing...We've all seen a team win or lose because they tried to SIT on the ball to soon....I don't have a problem with that, but there's a fine line and throwing the ball deep on 4th down when your up 38 points with 8 minutes left (against a pathetic offense who has 0 chance of scoring 30 in a game much less a qtr) is crossing the line. If that offends any Patriots fans....I really don't give a heck....It wasn't that long ago that the Pats were the league doormat. What goes around comes around.:icon_thumright: Compete??? 4 losses by 3 points or less would be competing in my book....but I get your point, Miami sucks right now and I agree with you, Alot of Miami fans like any other teams fans give "good" fans a bad name.....and imo Miami has a lot of bandwagon fans, maybe more than any other team in the league. So go on and have your fun, I can take it, I'm not a band wagon kind of guy! :icon_thumright:
Dam right. That's why I want revenge. We sucked. Now we don't. You do. Live is good. :icon_cheesygrin: Just given you crap.
