http://www.askthecommish.com/salarycap/numbers.asp San Diego, Jacksonville and Tennessee all playoff teams have a huge amount of money and with a couple of key aquisitions could take the next step. Miami could turn their team around pretty quickly with the available cash. Washington could be in some serious trouble trying to sign their own free agents much less add any.
I really hope we use this cap room well and really improve our team where needed. Then we can screw the Colts for that #1 place in the AFC South. :icon_lol:
You may be able to take the Colts next year WITHOUT spending any of that money. It should be a good battle....I think the Jags are gonna be a force next year.
I don't know how the Redskins do it. I've been waiting for them to fall to cap hell, and somehow they get out of it every time.
It's scary to to see the Chargers, Titans, and Jaguars have so much money to do with. They already have a good teams and with that much money. Yikes.
Chicago - 19.8 million UNDER with 52 people under contract, could be a good off-season for a team that needs to make some important acquisitions.
I'm just guessing but once they make their veteran cuts and restructure a few guys to make the hit less, then they'll be a little under....but they're not going to be signing any impact guys that's for sure.
Wow i thought the eagles would have alot more money than that i dont think reid will wanna sign big name players on that little bit of money he always thinks about the future.
Fins could definitely make a quick turnaround with so much jack to spend. They've added quite a bit more by cutting Thomas and Traylor and some others.
People need to stop taking this numbers so seriously. They are where a team stand approaching the end of the NFL's fiscal year, nothing else. All the teams over will get under and comfortably. They probably won't be big players in free agency but can still make some moves if they need to. Don't forget rule 51 that effectively controls a certain amount of your cap space (ie, if you sign a guy to a minimum veteran contract, rule 51 has already accounted for much of that space so it may cost as little as $100k on a teams cap). As for teams well under, it all looks well and good but the elite free agents either get franchise or want super contracts (I fully expect Asante Samuel and Maybe Marcus Trufant to get close to $100m deals). There was over $250m of unused cap space last year, so being under doesn't mean you are going to spend it all. As for the Redskins, at last count they are down to $7m over having pro rated Chris Cooley's bonus, restructured Randle El, Randy Thomas and Andre Carter. They have Brunell and Rock Cartwright's contracts to void saving another $3m, will make Brandon Lloyd a post-June 1st cut and will probably wiggle some room from the likes of Clinton Portis, Marcus Washington, Cornelius Griffin, Shawn Springs and Phillip Daniels. Lance Briggs, DJ Hackett...................come on down!
Sounds like Ted Thompson. The Packers haven't really done anything in free agency the last couple of years.
scary to see jacksonville AND tennessee in the top 4 with THAT much money to improve themselves. i know most of the draft picks get signed and will put a ding in the numbers but i'd still rather see them around indianapolis' level as far as the afc south goes... chargers with the most money to spend is just wrong. my guess is that the saints spend the most money this year though. houston's got enough for the draft and a non-elite signing or two which should bode well for us!
