SI.com Glad to see the forceout is gone. Interesting about the facemask. 15 yards or no call, now. There seems to be a lot of gray area in some of the rules changes now. Lots of referee discretion instead of it is or it isn't.
removing the incidental 5 yard face mask kinda made me go "whhaaaaaaaaaa?!?!" it's not like there weren't incidental face masks...on...just about every play....
I don't have a problem with them getting rid of the incidental rule...crap happens sometimes. however, now there will be debates about whether it is or isn't worth the 15 yard variety.
" After one half you better understand the trend of your opponent and can adjust to that trend, therefore you have the option to begin the second half to take advantage of your adjustment. " Taken from Yahoo Answers
But technically, how does it work? If a team wins the toss and takes the ball, will it have the ball to start the 2nd half too? :Clueless:
No because I think if you 'defer' the ball at the coin toss it means that you kick the ball to the other team to start the game. It is a confusing sentence that you've put in bold mind.
They explained yesterday in NFLTA. The team that wins the coin toss now can to let the other team decide wether they'll kick or receive. At least that's how I understood it.
normally the winner of the coin toss chooses to kick or receive and the loser takes the direction (wind), this would allow the winner of the coin toss to choose the wind if they are so inclined to do so.
I love the forceout rule being removed.......I like getting rid of the 5 yard facemask to.....If you don't twist it or tackle a guy by it, it shouldn't be a penalty.
They've always been able to do that. i think the only difference is that now they force the other team to choose kick or receive, THEN they choose wind.
