Whats The Toughest Position In The Game,Your Opinion?

Discussion in 'NFL General Discussion' started by eaglesrule4ever, Mar 25, 2008.

  1. I would have to say QB because you have to read the defence, manage the line, know when to change the play, anticipate defenders jumping routes, time managment and getting a completion. All on one play. I think its clear.

jon kitna and david carr must not know how to read defense they get sacked virtually every play!

i don't know if you're using some kind of hybrid double-reverse sarcasm or what...but if this isn't some kind of black magic confusion mind trick you're using then file it in "understatements"

    mentally: qb/mlb
    physically: o'line

easiest: free safety!! the only way you help in run support is if everyone else missed...and if it's a pass you just take like 10 steps back and gun it for whichever direction the ball was thrown

If everyone else has missed, the guy's going to have momentum and more space to juke you out. You're meant to read the QBs eyes as a FS, nobody (except Landry it would appear) can reach where the ball is thrown from centrefield in time. I think it's best to say there's no easy posistion.

    Toughest physically or toughest mentally?

Physically, it's got to be RB. You get repeatedly hit on every play. How long is the shelf life of an NFL RB? really?

Mentally, it's got to be QB. Has to be the smartest and most talented guy on the field and you get hit on nearly every play, not to mention that your mistakes are magnified.

    Discounted arguments:

Offensive line: Position that can be dominated as a rookie, plus O-lineman usally have pretty long careers.

Wide receiver: WR's don't get hit on every play, if you got speed and hands you can get away with being fundamentally weak!

Defensive line: As long as you are physically gifted you can last a while in the league.

Linebacker: Physically demanding, mentally challenging, but a lot of LBs' stay in the league for a while.

Defensive back: Deion Sanders and tough in the same sentence?! Please!

    Inclulbus WE ARE! .. Marshall!

I think the same exact thing. you'd have to basically be in the wr's mind, and always on your heels, because you make 1 tiny mistake, the WR has you.

The kicker, first he has to figure out a way to get down once wrapped up in duct tape, that alone means you need to be a tough mofo.

You don't manage the line, the Centre does that.

CB- always facing a bigger man, always have the odds against you with the rules, play with your back to the ball, You don't get as much help from other players and you have to perform as a man twice your size.....
