Blitzblog Steelers I wrote a blog on what I thought was the worst first round draft class ever. Interested to see how other people feel about the past draft classes. :TTW:
Alonzo Spellman...That's not funny:icon_sad: He knew how to play and hit but he just came from a time before teams really did " character" background checks. As for 1997 well that's when this genius traded our first round draft pick for Rick Mire.
I still say that the 05 draft really gives a run for the money. I think in 10 or 20 years it will be worse, because time helps you forget the good not great, border-line pro bowl types, which is the majority of the few players from that class that have had some success.
Don't know enough draft history to say for sure, but it does seem to be pretty mediocre. However, it's impossible to really tell until they are all retired and we see how their careers went.
2005 is too recent to judge. Plus there were some good players out of those. 1991 and 92 were ALL dogs! with fleas!
Braylon Edwards, Shawn Merriman, Logan Mankins, Heath Miller and DeMarcus Ware - better than almost all the talent in those 91 and 92 draft classes. Cream of the Crop - 1991: Herman Moore, Russell Maryland, Ted Washington, Eric Swann, Todd Light. Cream of the Crop - 1992: Troy Vincent, Desmond Howard, Chester McGlockton, Dale Carter, Daryl Williams. 2005 has the potential to be a lot better. It's too early to judge that clbutt. We don't know how Alex Smith will do. Ronnie Brown. Cadillac Williams could come back... Jason Campbell, Roddy White, Mike Patterson...there's a lot of questions in that 2005 draft. It's too early to judge it good or bad. 91 and 92, the careers are pretty much over...and most of them were subpar.
