The Ravens, Steelers and Browns moved from the AFL to the NFL's newly-established AFC.

 

I didn't realize the Ravens were around in 1969.

The sale of the Dallas Cowboys from the Murchison family to an 11-member limited partnership headed by Dallas business man H. R. "Bum" Bright was completed.

 

And to this day, the Cowboys are still "Bums!"

A sports bill calling in part for renovations to the Louisiana Superdome and a new practice facility for the Saints is passed by state lawmakers in a vote in Baton Rouge.

 

May 20, 1987
NFL owners awarded Super Bowl XXV to Tampa Stadium. The game wound up being one of the most memorable in league history as the Giants defeated the Bills, 20-19.

May 22, 1991

NFL clubs approved a recommendation by the Expansion and Realignment Committee to add two teams for the 1994 season, resulting in six divisions of five teams each. The two teams would wind up being the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Carolina Panthers.

 

May 23, 1991

NFL clubs awarded Super Bowl XXIX to the city of Miami. The 49ers defeated the Chargers, 49-26, in that game as San Francisco QB Steve Young set a Super Bowl record with six touchdown passes on Jan. 30, 1995.
