http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8398506?MSNHPHMA This trade has Jason Bay going to Red Sox not Devil Rays.
Not sure Jones counts as an outfielder any more....well I guess he can still field but don't give him a bat. He can't hit.
Really? I can't stand his guts. I think he's a total douchebag. Pierre could clear waivers. I wonder if they try to trade him away. Well whether he counts or not, they're going to need his defense in center with Manny playing left field.
Is he a rental or a buy? You think Teixeria put the Angels over the top, this put the Angels over the top cus now they can beat the Red Sox.
Well, Andreu Jones can't hit, but can field....ManRam can hit, but can't field...interesting....but as far as i can see (maybe a homer call) pitching beats hitting any day. 1) Webb 2)Haren 3)Unit 4)Davis (if he can get his crap together).....
For LA? He is a rental. The Dodgers had to agree to not pick up his option for next year in order for him to OK the deal. The next question is what team will give him the ridiculous deal his punk-ass will be looking for in the offseason. For Boston, Bay is not a rental. He is signed through 2009. Now? They whooped the Sox' butt in the last 6 games they've played against them. I also don't think this deal hurts the Sox that much. Sure, Bay is a downgrade from Ramirez and can't give the kind of protection to Ortiz that Manny could, but Ramirez would have been a huge distraction. Added bonus: Bay's defense.
I always liked this guy. he does what he wants when he want to. hey thats how i live. i do what i want when i want. i try when i wanna try. him going to the NL im very happy the yanks dont have to worry about him. only in interleague play
it is going to be even more comical watching manny try to play defense now that he went from the smallest leftfield to one of the bigger ones.
The same thing will happen that happens every year out here - Dodger fans will be disappointed. Ned Colletti should be fired. All of his moves have proven he doesn't know what the hell he's doing, including this one.
Other than the fact that they now have 5 outfielders, I think the Dodgers made out really well in this deal. Getting Manny without giving up Ethier or Kemp is a huge success, imo. I also think that the Sox gave up a better prospect in Moss than either of the two spects LA gave up.
The Dodgers may have gotten one of the best hitters in the past 10 years but they didn't help the situation in their clubhouse. This is the exact reason why Boston wanted him gone. It's also the difference between a successful team and a mediocre team. I don't think Colletti was making this move to help the Dodgers, I think he's making an attempt at saving his job.
I agree with the last sentence, but I think a change of scenery will diffuse the whole Manny being Manny situation. After all, they'll only have two months with him.
