Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News covers the Giants, both in print and via his Blue Screen blog. He also has written a new book, Eli Manning: The Making of a Quarterback. With no punches pulled, Vacchiano looks at life for the Giants in the absence of tight end Jeremy Shockey. No Shockey has led to Eli having less negative influences on the field. There's nothing like a player showing up his QB and entire team every time the ball doesn't come his way, or is under thrown, or picked off, or anything. He's an idiot with a bad personality that should be kept as far away from a winning team as possible. Plaxico is starting down this path as well, but Coughlin suspended him hoping it'd wisen him up a bit. Winning teams don't need cry babies, or half hearted players.
Peopel don't realize the depth the Giants have, especially on offense. They could very easily be the best offensive team in the NFL. There running game with Jacobs, Ward and Bradshaw is absolutely rediculous
I think the reason why we are doing well without Shockey is that it gets Eli away from throwing over the middle, thereby reducing the INTs from floating balls over the middle. Eli is spreading the ball around more and using all his weapons, rather than just lock in on Plax or Shockey
