Agent Scott Boras declined to confirm that the Sox were one of six teams who immediately contacted him after free agent first baseman Mark Teixeira formally filed, but the Sox are expected to make Teixeira one of their primary targets. Unsurprisingly, the bidding for Teixeira could be steep. The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels are also believed to be in the hunt for Teixeira, a 28-year-old switch-hitter with power from both sides of the plate. Source: Boston.com
I wish ATL had kept him too, but from what I read we couldnt afford the long term deal is agent was going to ask for
Its like the Braves gave up 6 guys for Kotchman... lol Harrison, Beau Jones, Neftali Perez, Saltamachia, Elvis Andrus, and Teixeira... It was Kotchman for Teixeira str8 up right>? lol
They also got a reliever prospect in the deal with the Angels. It's not fair to look at a deal like that. They traded those things not just for Kotchman, but for a year of Teixera and Kotchman. When they made the move for Tex, it made sense. Then, when they traded him away, it also made sense. If they had held onto him and lost him in FA would you be saying they traded those players away for nothing? If Tex doesn't re-sign with the Angels, then he'll go to the Yankees or Red Sox. What else is new in the MLB FA market?
everyone is streaky too in a perfect world he would have played out his career in ATL, but since that cant happen I see the yankees offering him everything and the kitchen sink
After this offseason, Braves fans aren't going to have anything to dwell over. Atlanta is going to make some big moves.
I find it interesting how Baltimore has been extremely quiet when it comes to free agent and trade rumors so far. Do they have something up there sleeve? They haven't even been talked about in the Teixeira sweepstakes.
