The Philadelphia Phillies are raising ticket prices for next year after winning their first World Series title since 1980. Most tickets will increase by $2 or $3 in 2009 and top premium seats will cost $50, an increase of $6. Prices for season tickets range from just over $1,300 to $4,100. The team was instituting modest price increases to keep it in line with franchises with similar stadiums and fan bases, not trying to gouge fans coming off a World Series win, said John Weber, Phillies vice president of sales and ticket operations. *cough, cough* bullcrap seriously, I remember when it would cost $4 general admission at the Vet. Parking is what, $10 now?
first off the Phillies are pretty down on the list as far as ticket prices and they really could raise them a ton more. Second, demand for tickets has gone up, even before they won the world series and the phillies haven't raised their prices since moving into the new stadium. Third, Prices go up, it's life, deal with it.
people losing jobs/homes left and right, going bankrupt and thier only outlet of relief just got to expensive poor bastards
John Weber - "I think we could've increased it even further based on the demand we have," he said. "I think we definitely kept it (down), keeping the economy and everything in mind."
Is anyone really complaining about spending $2-3 extra dollars to watch the defending World Champions of baseball play? I'll take that trade any day and would be willing to pay so much more. And like mike said, the ticket prices really aren't that bad compared to some places. yeah the Vet was cheap, but times have changed. Not to mention the worst seats in CBP are equivalent to some of the better seats in the Vet.
yeah and even at the vets end, the cheapest seats were at least $7 and maybe more. Great you got a crap seat where you could easily smell crap and feed the rats, this is an easy trade off. If I lived there, I would easily take the seats of those who find an extra 2 bucks too expensive. How about this? Drink one less beer and you could afford almost 2 more tickets, lol
As long as we sign Hamels and give him the $ he DESERVES then by all means raise ticket prices. The guy had his contract renewed at $500,000 last year when he asked for $750,000. I think he is entitled to it.
