Now that James Harrison III is up and walking, his father is seeking a way to avoid putting down the dog (named Patron) that bit the 2-year-old. A number of people responded to the planned euthanization by saying there were organizations that might take the dog. Mr. Harrison's agent, Bill Parise, said yesterday that they were seeking an alternative for Patron. "I'm a dog lover, and I don't know what I'd do if I lost [my dog]," Mr. Parise said. "James was that close with Patron. One of the things James and I talked about was that this was a real tragedy -- the injury to his baby, and the baby's mother, and the loss of the dog. It's hard." The responsibility to the family obviously had to come first, Mr. Parise said, and there was the issue of whether Patron could ever be trusted with people. "I just got done talking to James," he said yesterday afternoon, "and he would love to find a home for him, but only if it was a home that would provide maximum security. This decision is not being made lightly, and it would have to be in the best interest of the welfare of the animal as well as of people."

There is absolutely no reason for that dog to be put down. Give the dog away, find a home that handles pits. But killing the dog isnt the right answer.

    Crowned Doesn't give a shit.

Let it live, train it better, you have enough money to hire a trainer, or keep it away from the children.

i thought dogs are supposed to love kids...my family happens to own several pitbulls...and one thing i can say about them is that they are not aggressive towards people but can be very aggressive towards other dogs...i could bring any of you guys to my house...to my dogs and i can promise u they wouldnt think of attacking u...i think there is something more to this then just a random attack on a child

I am against putting the dog down myself. I have seen a similiar situation with my own eyes. A friends child being bitten by another friends rottie. Nicest dog in the world, but dad wasnt smart enough not to leave a 2 year old alone with a 130 pound animal. I honestly think Harrison realizes this is his fault not the animals and doesnt want the dog to pay for it. If this was a repeat situation yes put the dog down, but since I have not heard it is I say find him a new home and move on with your and your kids lives.
