The Eagles appear close to extending the contract of quarterback Donovan McNabb. The reworked deal would add two years to his contract, and give him a reported $19 million in guaranteed money. Philadelphia's offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg believes McNabb still has gas left in the tank. "I think one day he'll most likely be elected into the Hall of Fame," Mornhinweg said. "Now, he's got some more work to do to do that. But I think he has been and will play at a high level for quite some time." Source: Courier Post
So it pretty much just negates the fact that the final two years of his deal were voided and 5 gets some guaranteed jack...
I think McNabb was signed through 2013. But he hit a clause where the last three years got voided out. If the Eagles traded McNabb today, he'd only count $1.1 million against the cap. I think his salary for this season is over $10M. So I think the extension is a guaranteed 2 more years and $19M...
please let this Philly great retire having only been an Eagle during his career. Lets not Bdawk or let him Favre his career with the team and finish somewhere else.
