Optimism is running extremely high with the Cincinnati Bengals this offseason. But leave it to receiver Chad Ochocinco to take the team's optimism several notches higher. "It's going to be a great year; we're going to the playoffs," Ochocinco guaranteed during Thursday's opening of mandatory minicamp. "We're going ... We're making progress. I mean, I see it, and I can come out on a limb and say what we're going to do." Ochocinco said he's happy, his mind is clear and everything feels right with the 2009 Bengals.

    SlowBig10 says:
    2006 - 8 wins
    2007 - 6 wins
    2008 - 4 wins
2009 - 12 wins..playoffs for sure, it makes so much sense

    3rdleg13 says:
Not only will the Bengals not make the playoffs, but every team that drafts Ocho for their fantasy team will not make the playoffs either.

Chiefs have a better shot then Cincy in my opinion just based on the divison even though there schedule is absolutly brutal.

I actually think the Bengals could make a decent run at it when you consider whos coming in, and back from injury. Palmer,Rivers,Smith,Ocho Cinco,Coles,Rey M,Michael Johnson,Coffman..and only really lose TJ. Thats 7 top new good starters and a replacement and 1 or 2 other additions may start aswell.

i assume you didnt see how he finished out the seasnon as their premier back then no? and their o-line from what i saw was flat out terrible, and Andre Smitth improves atleast one side 10fold.

    chiefswin19games Don't be defeated.

Andre Smith hasn't even played a pro game yet. How does he instantly improve that line?

I think the Bengals will be improved and I think they may make the playoffs. Did anyone here think the Cards would make the playoffs last year?

I wouldent go as far to say that hes got no chance. There are teams every year that go from being garbage to makeing the playoffs. Its not very likely but still a chance.

You can chalk up 2 loses to the Baltimore Ravens.

    DoubleC i'm ready now...

On the other hand, what could we expect from a guy who changes his name to a number in a foreign language? :dontknow:

I'd be surprised if the Bengals finish better than 7-9 and 2-4 in their division.

If Andre Smith acted properly at the combine(and didnt take his shirt of at Alabama pro-day :loco:) it would not have been a surprise if he wasin St Louis right now. Given how well recently rookie tackles perform and he is arguabl the best in this class - imo better than Ryan Clady and look hiow he performed - asumming he does well is not that big of a stretch.

"Arguably" is right, because you can't outright say he's the best with a straight face. He might be, but right now my money's on Eugene Monroe.

Besides, if I were a Bengals fan I'd be pretty worried about lining him up at LT. RT? No problem, welcome to the probowl, but LT? For your sake, I hope he's more Bryant McKinnie and less Leonard Davis. :icon_eek:
