The Panthers announced this afternoon that defensive end Julius Peppers signed his offer sheet and will play for the team this season. He has a guaranteed $16.683 million base salary -- the amount of his offer sheet as a franchise free agent, plus an incentive of $1.5 million if he makes the Pro Bowl and $250,000 per each playoff win up to and including the Super Bowl. Peppers' agent, Carl Carey, told the Observer that : "Julius is more than satisfied with the outcome and is prepared and ready to play football." Source: Charlotte Observer
Let's see: miss out on a million plus....... or ...... watch the first eight games at home on my tv... This was expected. What suprises me is they give him even more money. If you add the 1,5 million, what would be the cap money next year if they want tot tag him again. They can't tag him again. Even a bigger surprise is the fact that he didn't get the: We are not going to tag you again clause in this deal.
Up until the draft I thought they were going to trade him. When they gave away next year 1 for the second I thought they had a deal made done.
I believe they can tag him again next season...it will cost them something like $20+ Million...in a possible uncapped year...
