Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi said yesterday this could be the final year of his career. Then again, it may not. Bruschi, whose contract expires after the 2009 season, is leaving his options open. "It has to be that way, not only for me but also the team,'' Bruschi said. "I have to give them everything I have this year and only think about what's next. I'm going to prepare myself for this season, only think about this season, and when the season is over, which is a long ways away, then you think about delving into those decisions.''

I hope when he decides to retire the organization offers him a coaching position. Tedy has been great for us and is a class act. The Pats are just going to have to go out and win a SuperBowl and let Tedy go out a champion

It's time. He's got 3 boys I'm sure he'll welcome spending more quality time with. He's been our leader for quite a few years, and a good one.

And Brett Favre gets ripped for comments like that, but for every other player, it's acceptable :icon_rolleyes:

Because Tedy isn't dragging it out and making the team hold there breath to find out what he's doing.

And because Favre is inexplicably beloved within sports media, so anytime he made a statement like that (how ever false it may have been) all the sports news outfits made a HUGE deal out of it and then when the son of a snitch didn't retire it was like flipping the reset switch to do it all again.
Teddy Bruschi is a name that only football enthusiasts know - and really care if he retires or not - and he gets more latitude than Favre because of his 3 titles and (to my knowledge) this is his first bid at potential retirement.

He's never mentioned retiring before, even when he had his stroke. Plus when he leaves, he's done. He'd never play for another team, just to get another year in. Tedy made sure he'd stay a Patriot by not using an agent. When it was contract time, he went in, asked what they were going to pay him, signed, and left. That's sure refreshing now days.

You know I can at least understand why people hate the Patriots as a team, but don't rip Tedy. He is by far one of the classier guys in the league, like Top Dawg said he has no agent, he came back from a stroke in the same year, and he just loves to play the game. If anyone deserves peoples respesct it's Tedy especially in this day and age of premadonna pro athletes holding out, getting arrested, ripping their coaches and teammates. He just works hard and carries himself with dignity.

Don't even compare this Favre crap with Tedy!

We have one guy who gets horny from hearings his name on the tv over and over again. Which at one point in his career was very much deserved. But signing a deal with the enemy so you can endulge you own ego.... please, get over it.

On the other side we have a guy who came back from a stroke, is a true leader and a great TEAM player and... I could go on...

Now if he comes back after retiring a patriot and signs a deal with the Jets. Well, that just won't happen. Some people know this game is also about respect. Respect for you fellow teammates, your organisation, your coach and owner that gave you the things that made you into what you are. But most of all, respect for your own legacy....

Damn, I just had to get it of my chest.... I'm so done with Brett Favre
